CNR meets with Township of Scotch Plains to discuss REACH Flood Mitigation Strategies

The Center for Natural Resources (CNR) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology met with the Township of Scotch Plains on November 7, 2025, to discuss flooding issues and the implementation of mitigation strategies through the REACH (Resilience Excellence and Capacity Hub) program.

Participants included Margaret Heisey (Municipal Manager), Robert LaCosta (Construction Official / Zoning Officer), and Nick Dinichelo from the Township of Scotch Plains, along with Mr. Christopher Testa from the New Jersey State Police Hazard Mitigation Unit and NJIT CNR researchers.

The discussion focused on flood resilience, stormwater management, and collaborative planning to strengthen community preparedness and infrastructure.
